Buckle up and get ready to ride. When in Sedona you must rent an ATV to explore the red rocks and rugged terrain!

We chose Sedona off-road center’s half day self-guided experience in the RZR 1000. It seats four people comfortably. This was a more economical version but if you’re looking to go hard or go home, I recommend the Can Am Maverick X3 Turbo 4 passenger. The off-road center was helpful and understanding – especially since we blew a tire at the end of our rental (check out my Sedona highlight to see the damage). Pro tip: get that tire insurance! We took the route to explore Schnebly Hill and Diamondbacks Gulch. Schnebly Hill is very scenic while Diamondback Gulch is pure mayhem (highly recommend). We did the half day rental because we were trying to squeeze in other activities like the polar vortexes, but we wish we had done a whole day rental because the time flew by. ATVs are a very popular activity so make sure you book ahead on busy weekends and holidays or else you might be out of luck. We scored a discount through our resort which was the Sedona Hilton at Red Rocks.

Wear clothing you’re not worried about getting dirty or permanently stained – do not wear light colors. Not only were our clothes discolored but our faces were covered in red dirt after the experience. I highly suggest wearing a face covering to help prevent getting dust in your lungs – especially if you have any allergies or asthma.
